Książ Castle - the largest castle Silesia, located in a protected area landscape park near Wałbrzych. Kschenzh Castle is one of the main tourist attractions of the region.
Original wooden fortifications on the site were demolished in 1263 Ottokar II. Duke Balko I had begun the construction of a stone castle in 1288. The next owner was childless Duke Balko II, after whose death in 1368, lived in the castle of his widow, Agnes von Habsburg. In 1392, the Duchy passed under the scepter of the Czech kings, the castle was Vaclav IV. When it was built the medieval central tower height of 30 meters. In the years 1428-1429 the castle was occupied by the Hussites as a result of military action.

In 1509, the owners of the castle was the Count's race Hoberg, who owned it until the beginning of World War II. In the second half of the sixteenth century, the castle owners have updated in a modern style, while the Renaissance. During the Thirty Years War, some parts of the castle were destroyed, so in 1671 began restoration work, which was invited by the Italian master Antonio Domenico Rossi. The architect has changed the southern wing and partly give the interior a Baroque style. Later, in the eighteenth century, almost all the decoration was changed to the Rococo style.
After the start of World War II, the German government has developed a plan "Giant", which involved the construction of the underground industry. Kschenzh geographically Castle was included in the project, so the interior damaged during work on the construction of underground floors at a depth of 50 meters. In 1945 the building was looted by Soviet soldiers.
Today the castle Kschenzh included in the popular tourist route "Castles of Piast." The administration is engaged in its restoration.
