Saratov circus - the first permanent circus in Russia. It was founded in 1876 by artists and entrepreneurs brothers Nikitin. And although history tells us that shortly before Nikitin built a circus in Penza, it is assumed that it was the first Saratov. Prior to this presentation were held in temporary premises, tents with the agreement of the city police chief, in strictly designated areas and only a few fair days.
Saratov became the founder of the Russian circus thanks to the work of three brothers Nikitin Dmitry Akimov and Peter. In 1876, they had been built round wooden building resembling a tent, with a sign "The first Russian circus Nikitin Brothers." In 1921, Saratov, as well as all the Volga region, the famine embraced. Artists and circus animals died of starvation and cholera, but never ceased to give performances. Having gone through all the hardships and tribulations of a wooden building completely decayed. In 1928 it was demolished.
In 1931, the project B.S.Vilenskogo (ENEA designer pavilions and several subway stations in Moscow) built a new stone building of the circus. From 1959 to 1963, he reconstructed the circus, increased space, changed the facade. But only in 1998, after an overhaul in the 125 th anniversary of the Saratov circus building was given the name "Saratov circus them. Nikitin Brothers. "
