Museum of Contemporary Art in Rijeka is a specialized agency created to acquaint the citizens and guests of the city with new trends in art. Not surprisingly, all of the museum associated with contemporary art and new ways of expressing it.

The museum was the foundation after the Second World War in the room Gallery of Fine Art. In 1962, the institution was renamed the Museum of Contemporary Art of independent Croatia. In 1999, the museum becomes the epicenter of the artistic life of Rijeka.

Museum staff to systematically collect, restore and make accessible to the public works of XIX-XX centuries. In addition, there are many working materials and systematization of the theoretical side of the question (the museum staff wrote a large number of scientific papers).

In addition to permanent and temporary exhibitions at the museum offers lectures, seminars, providing services for the provision of information to supervisors, as well as the published editions of the profile of the museum.

Today the museum has more than 8,000 exhibits, which are divided into 10 collections. There are paintings, sculpture, photography, video and film art, drawings, prints, posters, etc. In its work, the museum uses modern technology, which makes it very popular with locals and visitors alike.
