One of the finest churches in Denmark is the Romanesque Cathedral of Ribe. It is not known when the temple was built, but historians suggest that about 1150 years. Cathedral was built from volcanic tufa and sandstone for hundreds of years. Today it is the only cathedral in Denmark, with five naves.

Throughout the history of the temple, construction was subjected to various natural disasters: fires, floods. In 1283, during the Mass, he struck the north tower of the church, killing about 100 people and in 1333 was built the current tower height of 52 meters.

At the main entrance to the cathedral is a statue of Hans Tausens (first Protestant bishop) and a statue of Hans Adolf Brorsona (bishop of Ribe - the author of the hymn that marks the carillon every day). Above one of the main doors of the cathedral has a triangular bas-relief depicting King Valdemar, holding out a cross to the Virgin Mary.

Today, the interior of the Cathedral of Ribe mostly painted modernist Carl Pedersen, but survived to our days a little frescoes XVI-XVII centuries. In the church are graves of two Kings - Eric and Christopher. Also in the cathedral it is the tomb of the last bishop of Ribe - Ivar Munk.

Ribe Cathedral is one of the most famous and important historical monuments in Denmark. Every year, the temple is visited by many tourists from all over the world.
