Originally the farm was carried out on the Imperial divorce of pedigree cattle to improve Russian livestock. Now here is an equestrian complex Museum "Tsarskoye Selo" with beautiful horses, which can ride park visitors. In the future we plan to establish a museum of horse and family recreation center.
The complex is located in a farm Fermskom park, now it also applies to the Alexander Park, as the first main part belongs to the Agrarian University, and is in ruins. And to the reserve is only a farm building and an adjacent piece of land (about 6 hectares), which is equipped with modern amenities. This area represents a continuation of the Alexander Park, so it is up to him and credited.
The first wooden buildings were built in 1810 for the imperial farm slung here from St. Petersburg. In 1818-1828 by the architect A. Menelaws stone ensemble of buildings built in the style of anglogoticheskom. All the buildings - one- and two-story - a combined fence and form a picturesque complex, survived to the present day, except for buildings of wood.
The complex includes the following buildings: the pavilion of the highest attendance (if here come the Emperor), two-storey house caretaker, one-story wings for different services, apartments cattlemen and veterinarians, the building of the barn (84 stalls), milk outbuilding required for milk processing and storage of products (milk cellar, glacier oil mill with separators, dairy), merino shed, stone bath and a few wooden buildings.
For grazing around the complex landscape park was arranged, consisting of meadows, with small 'oases' of trees. The grass was inoculated at a special Western technology.
The farm was a favorite pastime of Emperor Alexander I. There he led the field work itself fixed income from their sheep, happy and proud of the fact that the cloth of his uniform made from their wool. First, the main goal of the farm was breeding and selection of the best breeds of cattle. To do this, we bought foreign cows and sheep, but a few years later, because of the disease killed all these animals. Therefore it was decided to plant only Russian breed.
In 1860-1880 years of the farm was taken over by the Grand Duke Nicholas. He again began to buy abroad cattle of various breeds and sell the offspring individuals. By the beginning of XX century the matter adjusted. Also to the fore the task of management in the production of milk and dairy products for the imperial family, and the surplus could buy everyone. During the First World War because of the shortage of meat it began to carry out the breeding of pigs.
After the nationalization of farm buildings moved Agricultural University, and has long been used for its intended purpose. During World War II buildings suffered greatly.
Prior to the 1990s in this area acted riding school, and since 1992 - Equestrian Museum "Tsarskoye Selo". In 1988 began the restoration of the ensemble. The building superintendent and the barn (now - stable) have been restored. Now ride in carriages pulled by Orlov trotters in the park can be anyone. The coachman - a special form. It plans to open a horse riding club.
The farm buildings will soon be a museum where visitors can trace the history of human use of the horse. There will be exhibited carriages and sleighs XIX-XX centuries, harness, parts of ammunition. Also, the hotel will work, children's playground, a cafe and a small farm with real animals.
