Cathedral of the Transfiguration is an integral part of the Pskov Savior-Transfiguration Monastery Mirozhsky . It was built from the plinth (a wide, flat burnt bricks) and stone up to 1156 . Cathedral frescoed from top to bottom in the 1130's and 1140's of unknown Greek masters. Rather, the program was offered by Archbishop murals Nifont of Novgorod (the founder of the monastery). In stylistic nature they have no historical analogues in our country and remind Byzantine mosaics in some Sicilian temples of XII century.

In the XVII century frescoes were whitewashed cathedral (most likely due to a fire in the XV and XVI centuries), and is happily rescued them.
