Spanish Synagogue is the most beautiful synagogue in Prague. It is part of the exhibition of the Jewish Museum, is one of its branches, so you can get in by purchasing a ticket at the box office complex of the Jewish Museum, allowing visiting all the memorable places connected with the life and customs of the Jewish people in Prague.
Spanish Synagogue is located on Broad Street in Josefov. It makes an indelible impression on the unprepared tourists. Its walls are richly decorated with stucco and gilding, stained glass windows, gleaming in the rays of the sun Prague. It resembles a box storing their secrets, too otherworldly and mysterious.
In the old days on the site of the Spanish Synagogue was the prayer house, which was to be demolished. In the second half of the XIX century began construction of a new synagogue, which was dedicated to the memorable date: the 400th anniversary of the expulsion of Jews from Spain. That is why the synagogue was called Spanish and was constructed in accordance with the traditions that have been taken in the distant Spain. Moorish splendor of decoration, the presence of oriental motifs - that is characteristic of the Spanish Synagogue.
Inside demonstrated exhibition devoted to the Holocaust and the concentration camps. On the second floor you can see the pictures completely destroyed the Jewish ghetto. The materials are rather heavy to read and are designed for adults, thoughtful people interested in history. Babies this exposure is best not to show it.
Before the synagogue there is a monument to Franz Kafka - a strange but attracts attention as his works.
