Archaeological Museum of Pella - one of the most interesting and popular museums in Greek Macedonia. It is located on the territory of the archaeological site of the ancient city of Pella - the capital of the legendary kingdom of Macedon.

The museum was designed by the architect Costas Skrumpellosa. Construction began in 2006, and in 2009 the Archaeological Museum opened its doors to visitors. This is a huge modern building area of ​​6,000 square meters. m. with a rectangular atrium, reminiscent of the peristyle a central characteristic of the majority of residential and public buildings of ancient Pella. The building of the museum has special rooms for lectures and seminars, placement of temporary exhibitions, and also has a souvenir shop and a seating area with a small cafe.

Unique ancient artifacts presented in the museum, perfectly illustrate the history and cultural development of the region since prehistoric times. The museum displays sculptures, figurines, ceramics and iron, household utensils, coins, inscriptions, jewelry, various funerary artifacts, architectural fragments, mosaics, and more. At the entrance to the museum you will see a marble head of Alexander the Great (325-300 BC) and a statue of the ancient Greek god Pan, and in the information sector will be able to examine the documents, photographs, maps, drawings, as well as watch and a small video presentation about Pella . Among the many exhibits special attention deserve the stunning beauty of ancient mosaics, perfectly preserved to this day.

The whole collection of the Archaeological Museum is divided into five thematic sections. The exposition of the first section gives a broad picture of the daily life of Pella. The second section highlights the social and economic life of the city and includes archaeological remains found during excavations of the Agora. The third presents various artifacts from ancient temples, and in the fourth - funerary artifacts from the graves, dating the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Geometric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. The fifth section introduces you to the architecture of the palace complex, as well as giving a presentation on the life and personality of the great general of Alexander the Great.

Today the Archaeological Museum of Pella - one of the best museums of its kind in Greece.
