On a high cliff above the town of Stare Hradiste stands a beautiful castle with a high round tower, topped with a gabled roof. The castle is visible from afar, but also with its city walls offer a nice overview of what must have been the main advantage of this hill when selecting a place for its construction.
The castle was raised in the XIV century, the Czech king and performed purely protective function. In 1420, his fate changed dramatically: he became a stronghold of Hussite troops and the residence of one of the rebel commanders Diviš Bořek. This general turned the castle into a well fortified structure, which could hide a large number of people. After the end of the Hussite wars the castle, as well as several villages closest to him were owned by Bořek. After some time, he bought the castle of King George of Poděbrady, whose descendants have suggested this kind of ownership Pernštejn. Members of this family were rich and did not spare funds for the reconstruction of the fortress Kunětická Hora. The main palace during their rule acquires the features of the Renaissance, and appears in the castle tower, which now runs a viewing platform.
In 1645, the glorious history of the local castle comes to an end: it destroyed the Swedes. It would have stood the romantic ruins, overgrown with ivy, if the Czech government at the beginning of the XX century did not pay attention to the abandoned object. The castle was repaired and made it a museum.
A visit to the castle like people interested in history and military affairs. In good condition are defenses of the fortress. An interesting and will visit an ancient chapel.
