Pardubice is no shortage of water resources, flows through the city just two rivers Labe and Chrudimka. And the second is a tributary of the first. Chrudimka - small river, more like a channel - goes around the castle and historic quarters, so there is almost in the center of the city. This fact makes it possible, without spending a lot of time and effort to visit one of the city's attractions, which is located directly on the right bank of the river. This is an automatic mill - a big brick building resembling plant.

At the beginning of the XX century was a small town of Pardubice, whose appearance has not been broken smokestacks. Here they lived, mainly farmers and peasants who were engaged in agriculture. Only after the appearance of the railway branch of the Pardubice learned industrialists, who appreciated this town.

Centre of the Pardubice region began to expand, so the two shores of the river was turned into a park. However, the rational use of energy, which gave the river, did not cause the protests of local residents. Therefore, they were not opposed to the mills, which stood here for centuries. Next to the traditional water mill, which is owned by Ian Pekarek, located restaurant, where often spent evenings local men.

In 1909, work began on laying the park, so the mill has become unprofitable. Pekarek family had to sell their land brothers Winternitz - young people who welcomed technical progress and were not afraid to use it to achieve for their own benefit.

On the site of an old mill, they erect a new one - automatically. After a fire in 1919 the building was restored again, and in the 60-ies of XX century, completely renovated. The mill is still in working condition.
