Olomouc can rightly be called a city of fountains. They are here very much, which is atypical for the Czech Republic. Ancient and modern, baroque and minimalist, the fountains are a real hallmark of Olomouc. They are incredibly proud of the locals. Earlier fountains perform tasks to ensure the residents of the cities of Czech water. With the advent of many ancient aqueduct water tanks have been demolished, but not in Olomouc. Triton Fountain was created in Baroque style in 1709. Inspired by the eponymous fountain in Rome, of which at one time worked for Lorenzo Bernini, the celebrated local master Vaclav Render created the present two-tier sculptural masterpiece. Each level - a sink, which is supported by dolphins and Tritons. Crowned composition statue of a boy who runs tame dragons. The fountain looks unusual, largely thanks to the skill of the creator.
Originally the fountain placed on a noisy crossroads where it stood until 1890. Then the permanent place of its location was selected area of the Republic.
In 2010, the fountain cleared of moss and brought him into the proper form. The workers shared with the media that because of the constant contact with moisture sculpture covered with cracks. If city officials hesitated to reconstruction, it is possible that the fountain would simply crumbled under the influence of aggressive environment.
