To see another Olomouc palace again have to go on a mountain area. Next to the Town Hall is a Renaissance mansion, once owned by the mayor of Olomouc Václav Edelmann. In 1572, he bought two dilapidated house on the main shopping area of the city, who decided to demolish and build in their place a residential palace for his family.
When construction was completed, it is not precisely known, although historians believe that it happened in 1586, when W. Edelmann order the production of its own coat of arms, to place it at the entrance to the palace.
The distinctive features of the palace are considered the windows, decorated in the form of arches, and several reliefs that are installed on the facade. They depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
In 1719 the palace came under the jurisdiction of the local municipal authorities, who used it to accommodate various city services. For example, in 1816 there was the management of the Olomouc fortress. There was frequently a legendary commander, general and commandant of the fortress Ya JW Radetzky. This can be seen from the plaque adorning the facade of the palace Edelmann. She was placed on the wall of the mansion in 1892.
Over time the palace was subjected to constant renovations and alterations. His extended, finishing work, change, adapting to the demands of certain officials. In the years 1850-1853 the palace attached outbuilding. It was at this time the city hall temporarily moved into the mansion.
Another significant reconstruction took place in the 30s of XX century. Since then, the palace is almost rebuilt.
