Archangel Michael's Monastery was built on the outskirts of Odessa Governor-General Count Mikhail Vorontsov in '35. 19th century in honor of its patron saint. The monastery celebrated 160-year history. The glory of its creation belongs to the famous figures of Odessa: Duke Mikhail Vorontsov and his wife E. Vorontsova, a friend of Alexander Pushkin R. Countess Edling, philanthropist and writer A. Strudzu and others.

In 1839, the Holy Synod adopted a resolution on the establishment of the temple of female cenobitic monastery. When the monastery refectory and built a hospital for the poor, the doors opened diocesan female school for orphaned girls. After the revolution the monastery was closed at the beginning as a "counter-revolutionary" and then blew up and the cathedral and bell tower. Only with the arrival of the occupying power in 1942, the premises of the monastery was once again transferred to the sisters of the monastery. But his misfortunes were not over: in twenty years, the monastery was closed again, and he gave the territory of the city TB hospital.

Renaissance Archangel Michael Monastery began in the last decade of the last century: the statute has been registered, and two years later returned to the preserved part of the premises, it is necessary to note their condition was very run down. Nevertheless, the monastery was revived from ruins: constructed not only new buildings, raised the old traditions.
