Monastery of John the Baptist - is one of the most prominent shrines of the city of Novosibirsk and a popular place of pilgrimage for many orthodox.

The history of the monastery began in 1993, when a believer Maecenas decided to build a cemetery near the temple in memory of his deceased son. The construction of the temple took place quickly and in the same year he made his solemn consecration in honor of St. Eugene. After a while, the monastery began to gather people from all over the country who want to dedicate their lives to God and monasticism. In October 1999, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church adopted a resolution on the establishment of the Monastery of St. Martyr Eugenia Novosibirsk.

In 2001, built temple of Archangel Michael Monastery of Zaeltsovsky moved to the area and got a piece of land near the temple, which began construction of the buildings necessary for the monastery. Temple of Archangel Michael, founded in 1996, was built in 1999, but finishing work continued even until 2003. The brick building of the temple, made in the Russian architectural style, consists of a main octagonal volume, topped with a cupola and bell tower beneath the onion dome. In the temple were also set shining golden domes and crosses.

In 2001, for the monastery to allocate additional land near the temple. In 2004 he was elevated to the fraternal housing. In the 2000s. also built the monastery walls with towers. In January 2007, the solemn consecration and elevation of the main temple bell weighing 600 kg. In March 2007, a monastery in honor of St. Martyr Eugenia renamed diocesan monastery in honor of St. St. John the Baptist.

Currently, the monastery has two churches: a large - in honor of the Archangel Michael, and small - in the name of St. John the Baptist. The monastery can also be seen blessing of water brick chapel of Our Lady of Life-Giving Spring, built in 2007. In the monastery works for children and adult Sunday school.
