Most Peristerona village, which is only slightly more than 30 kilometers to the west of the capital, Nicosia, is one of the most popular resorts on the island. The village is located on the bank of the river, which also bears the name of Peristerona, in the foothills of the Troodos mountains, so there have very favorable conditions for the cultivation of fruit, olives and grapes. It also is the main occupation of the local residents.

Despite the relatively modest size in Peristerona there are a huge number of architectural and historical monuments, most of which are religious buildings .  What is remarkable: the mosque and the Orthodox Church there are only a few meters away from each other, which is a symbol of tolerance and friendliness of the local population .  But the main attraction of the village is still considered a large Orthodox church, which was built in the X century in honor of St. Barnabas and Hilarion .  It is located on the west bank of the river and is a prime example of Byzantine architecture .  The main feature of this church is its shape, alternative to the temples of Cyprus - it is built in the shape of a cross, also has as many as five large domes .  Also in the church there are some ancient icons depicting Jesus Christ, which were written in the XVI century .  Inside the walls of the temple are covered with exquisite paintings and frescoes .

In Peristerona, which is very popular among tourists, is well-developed infrastructure, there are plenty of bars and restaurants where you can sample local cuisine, there are several hotels and villas where you can rent accommodation.
