Mstislavsky District Historical and Architectural Museum was established in 1988. Prior to 1995, continued collection of museum collections. In May 1995 there was the grand opening of the museum in a former mail - a monument of architecture of the XIX century. Now the three halls of the museum are more than 12 thousand exhibits.
The first room shows a collection of "spiritual source Mstislavl land" dedicated to the life and work of pioneer Peter Mstislavets - assistant of the famous Ivan Fyodorov. In 1564 in Moscow, they released the first printed book Apostle and Breviary. In the early 1570s, Peter Mstislavets parted by the time of Ivan Fedorov, founded in Vilna with the support of the wealthy citizens and merchants of orthodox own printing house and has produced a book Gospel Hymnal, Breviary.
The second hall of the museum, "From the history of Mstislavschiny: from antiquity to the end of the XVIII century" demonstrates archaeological finds discovered during excavations Mstislavsky zamchischa. The third hall "The county town Mstislavl" shows us a cozy district Belarusian town with his life, stalls, shops, customs and traditions. There is also a collection of "religious denominations", telling about the difficult history of religious beliefs and currents of the opposition and the peaceful existence of believers of different faiths.
The museum also hosts many interesting exhibitions on the history of chivalry and medieval culture. The museum is the initiator of the annual festivals of chivalry clubs reenactors.
