The history of the abbey of St. Vincent has more than a thousand years. The first religious building on the site appeared in the second half of the X century, it was a small chapel. Then, the local bishop Theodoric first decided to build a monastery, which put him out of Italy brought the relics of two saints - Vincent and Lucia, who were martyred for their faith. Lucia in life was known for its healing miracles, and its remains and does huge flows of pilgrims rushed, because its patron saint Lucius was considered not only the blind and the poor.
After three hundred years, the abbey of St. Vincent was not only an influential monastery, but also a recognized center of education in the duchy of Lorraine. In connection with this reorganization it was started and the extension of the monastery, the construction of new, more spacious building to replace the old. So in the middle of the XIII century Collegiate Church was demolished, however, new in its place was built only after a hundred years, but newer buildings have survived to the present. Work on the reconstruction of the abbey were still for several centuries, and by the second half of the XVIII century façade of the church appeared, which combined three parts orders - Corinthian, Doric and Ionic, and has built two neo-Gothic arches.
During the Great French Revolution, the period of creation in the life of the abbey ended and began a short-lived period of destruction - until 1803 the church housed a stable, and then the church was returned to the church. However, part of the Abbey and remained occupied by secular institutions - Lyceum Faber, tobacco factory, quartermaster and others. In the XIX century the church got stained glass made urban master Laurent-Charles Moreshalem and sculptures of saints and Lucy Vincent and bas-reliefs with scenes from their lives.
