Museum of Arts and Sciences of the University of Santo Tomas - it is the oldest operating museum in the Philippines. It was founded in the 17th century as a repository mineralogical, botanical and biological collections of the university. In accordance with the old Spanish law on education, collections were used as teaching materials in the framework of teaching courses in medicine and pharmacy.

In 1871, Ramon Martinez, a member of the Dominican Order and a professor of natural history, the university founded the Museum of Arts and Sciences - he is considered to be its creator.
