Malate Church - a small Catholic church built in the baroque style on the shores of Manila Bay. This is one of the oldest churches in Manila's Intramuros outside: in 1588 it began to build the Augustinian monks, and in 1591 a stone church and a monastery were completed. If you look at the church from the air, we see that its roof is made in the shape of a cross. In this church decided to hold weddings and baptisms.

During a brief occupation of the Philippine Islands by the British in the years 1762-1763 the British soldiers took refuge here during the war .  Later, in 1773, the church was destroyed and then rebuilt .  Other serious damage to the building of the church had been inflicted during a typhoon in 1868, but the people to raise funds for the restoration of another shrine, which, however, was delayed until 1898 .  Finally, during the battles of World War II it was almost destroyed - the Japanese burned and the church itself, and the adjoining monastery .  We held out only the walls .  But by 1950 the roof was repaired, rebuilt the altar, arch and transepts .  In 1978, the internal walls of the church are painted with frescoes, and the outer restored .  The current facade of the church - is "an interesting mix of Muslim and Baroque architecture" .  The imposing stone structure stands out for its cylindrical towers, several openings and lush ornamentation that some people think too colorful .

The church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary comforter, which is considered the patroness of pregnant women. In 1624 in Spain was brought a statue of the Virgin Mary, which today stands at the altar.

Directly in front of the church is a small park Rajah Solaiman. From its waterfront Manila Bay along Roxas Boulevard separates, which has many cafes and restaurants.
