Lighthouse on the River Pasig was the first lighthouse built in 1642 in the Philippines. Then it was located at the mouth of Pasig River, marking the entrance to the river for ships entering Manila Bay and looking the marina. In 1846, the Spaniards built a new lighthouse, but in the same place - at the mouth of the river, which divides into two parts, Manila. For nearly a century it has been a kind of lodestar for all seafarers inter-island vessels, showing them the way to the docks.

The lighthouse, which locals called "Farol" (in Spanish - lighthouse), was one of the most notable attractions of Manila Bay until the mid-20th century. Construction and expansion of the city's port further south and the subsequent reclamation of the coastal zone have considerably changed the location of the lighthouse, making it virtually invisible from the water of the Gulf. In 1992, an old Spanish lighthouse was demolished, and in its place built a more simple from the architectural point of view, the new tower. Beside him, the Coast Guard station is located in Manila. A district, who grew up on land reclaimed from the sea, is called password that Filipino language means "lighthouse".

The current building of the lighthouse is a white cone-shaped concrete building height of 14 meters and the focal plane 13, 11 meters. The old lighthouse was higher by almost a meter - it rose by 14, 94 meters above the ground.
