Kuiapo Church, officially called Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene Jesus - is a Roman Catholic church located in Manila district Kuiapo. Today, this church is one of the most popular in the country. It kept a particularly revered statue of Jesus Christ - the Black Nazarene, which is considered by many parishioners, it has miraculous powers. The church was painted in cream color after in 1928 the original building built in the style of the Mexican Baroque, burned to the ground.

When in August 1586 the Governor General of the Philippines Santiago de Vera founded Kuiapo area, Franciscan monks built the first church made of bamboo. One of its founders was the brother of San Pedro Bautista, whose image can be seen on one of the side niches of the church. In 1863, the church was partially destroyed Kuiapo during a strong earthquake and rebuilt only in 1899. As mentioned above, only 30 years later - in 1928 - the church was burned almost to the ground, leaving only the walls and the bell tower. The restored relic miraculously survived during the Second World War, though all the surrounding buildings were almost completely destroyed. Until 1984 the church building was rebuilt and expanded on a regular basis so that it can accommodate thousands of believers, and in 1988 the church was consecrated as a minor basilica.

Today, the church receives thousands of sick and afflicted, to see the statue of Jesus of Nazareth, in the hope that the prayer before the holy way will help healing. Each year in January, held a religious procession "Traslason": it starts at the Rizal Park Quirino Stands and lasts all day. The procession carrying the statue of the Nazarene, coming to church Kuiapo only late at night. To participate in this procession tens of thousands of believers gather from across the country.
