National Park "North Range of the Sierra Madre" - is the largest protected rainforest in the Philippines. It is situated in an area of ​​359,000 hectares in the western part of the province of Isabela. Of the two pristine primeval forests of the Sierra Madre of Luzon - the largest. The other is located on the territory of the Cordillera mountain range. The park was founded in 1997 to protect these lands from the predatory logging. Together with the adjacent protected area "Penablanka" it covers an area greater than the area of ​​Switzerland. The park is also known as Complex Palanan Palanan Reserve or the title of the highest mountain.

National Park "Sierra Madre" occupies the northern part of the mountain range of the same name, a total area of ​​1, 7 million hectares. In the north, the river flows Diktayan, and the southern boundary of the park is the river Disabunga. To the west stretches Cagayan Valley and the east coast of the park washes Philippine Sea.

In the forests of the Sierra Madre can be found up to 45% of plant species that grow only in the Philippines, and more than 50% of animal species - the indigenous inhabitants of these places. The lowlands are covered with pristine rain forest and the mountains - a typical alpine vegetation. On the coast you can see the mangroves and coastal vegetation and underwater - whole fields of algae and coral reefs of incredible beauty. The park is home to rare species of birds, including 6 species of Philippine eagles and reptiles - Philippine water lizard, estuarine crocodile, lizard Gray, green sea turtle, Caretta turtle and the hawksbill turtle.
