Squat chapel of Corpus Christi, resembling the remains of a temple looks very non-winning when compared with its neighbor - majestic and beautiful Cathedral of St. Barbara. However, this chapel is a well-preserved historic monument of the XIV century. Even the interiors come down to us in perfect condition.
The chapel was built at the same time as the cathedral of St. Barbara. It was erected as a burial place for famous people of the time. As planned by the architects, it was built as a vault and to compete successfully in the implementation of this function with another well-known local burial place situated in Sedlica. However, after the city began hosting the Jesuits, that is at the beginning of the XVII century, the chapel became a place of prayer. The holy fathers decide to freshen up a bit of the facade of the chapel of Christ's body, so it becomes the entrance to the Baroque features. These changes do not introduce dissonance in the face of the temple, on the contrary, successfully complete it.
At the end of the XVIII century chapel ceased to be used for worship. It started rehearsing organ concerts. It is characterized by excellent acoustics, so it becomes a kind of classroom.
In 1997 the dilapidated chapel repaired carefully restoring the amazing decor both interior and facade. Reconstruction ends 2000. Since the chapel is considered to be a tourist attraction, which sometimes give chamber music concerts. Also, the building of the chapel is used for exhibitions of works of art.
