House Museum Ljudevit Gaj, the famous Croatian poet, writer and linguist, open to the public since 1966. The modest one-story yellow building with a sloping roof attracts large number of tourists interested in the history of Croatian culture. In the courtyard in memory of Gaius set his stone bust.
The house of the writer preserved furniture, family portraits (brush Ivan Tishova), copies of manuscripts Guy, his printed texts, books, notebooks and even newspapers and magazines, of which he was engaged in editing. There is also stored memories of contemporaries that early childhood Guy showed great interest in the history of the city. He was a frequent visitor to the library of the Franciscan monastery, where he first met the manuscript of the holy fathers Krapina, not included in other collections than was really inspired.
Guy was a German by birth, but at the same time is so attached to the speckled and Croatia in general, I spent in this city a significant part of his life.
The museum reflects the contribution of the writer in the literary development of the Croatian language. His works are presented here suggest that Guy was a real reformer of the Croatian language. Guy revered as a symbol of the transition of Croatia from the feudal system to a modern civil society. In addition, thanks to its literary and editorial work Guy has done a lot to raise the national consciousness of the Croats.
Archival photographs and other materials in large quantities represented in the museum will help visitors learn more about this interesting literary and political figures in Croatia.
