St. Nicholas Church was first mentioned in historical documents in 1311. The date when the church was built is unknown, since the no record of it has survived. What is known is that in 1901 the church was partially destroyed in 1903, and in its place was built a new parish church.

From the old buildings remained only Gothic arches in the sacristy. One of them remained carved in stone the name "Joerg Krech," it is believed that the name belonged to one of the first builders. From church tower offers a magnificent view of the city and located on the hills behind the church and buildings.

Currently, the old church kept religious objects of art created in the period from the XVII to XIX centuries. Also in the church is preserved valuable ancient organ works of the famous masters Heferera. Church acts, it held services, baptisms, weddings and others.

The name of St. Nicholas, patron saint of sailors, was given to the church is not accidental, because Croatia has always honored this saint, especially the inhabitants of Krapina.
