One of the buildings of the architectural ensemble of the old town of Kotor is the palace Pima.
Pima Palace, probably the most representative and beautiful building on the square in the old Flour Kotor. It belonged to the family of Pima, which flourished from the XIV to XVIII century, and actively participated in the life of the city. The family gave the city a lot of famous names such as poets Jerome and Bernard Pima Pima, LL.D. Louis Pima, professor at the University of Padua.
Pima Palace, built in the 17th century, presumably after the earthquake in 1667, until today impresses with its beauty and uniqueness. The facade of the building, terrace, balcony railings with patterned, bright green shutters on the windows will not leave indifferent any connoisseur of architectural art.
Like many buildings of the old Kotor palace Pima made in different architectural styles. Large stone terrace, decorated with ornamental carving, the main portal and a courtyard in which the system of galleries and staircases leading to the upper floors, made in the style of the Renaissance. Long balcony on the second floor of the twelve stone brackets, the main portal, which depicts a coat of arms of the family Pima supported by two angels, made in the Baroque style.
Although it is believed that the palace was built in the 17th century, with a recent study it was found that some of the window openings on the rear facade of the building belong to the Romanesque and Gothic periods in architecture.
In the early twentieth century. over the central part of the palace was completed two floors, designed for the needs of the Marine College, in 1979, these buildings were demolished, and the palace acquired the original appearance.
