Cathedral of the Nativity was built in 1900 with funds donated by the Foundation named after Emperor Alexander III. The consecration of the cathedral took place in May 1901

In addition to its main purpose, the cathedral was used also as a school, which is in charge of the wife of the first abbot of the temple, the priest A. Michael. For the temple was attributed to several military units. Shortly after the consecration of the cathedral was built near the house of the clergy. Over time, the church restoration works were carried out, during which expanded the refectory of the temple, built a requiem and a chapel, named in honor of St. Innocent of Irkutsk.

Arrived for permanent residence in the Far East, the settlers brought with them the memory of his native land and shrines. That is why the cathedral was written Pochayiv icon of the Mother of God.

At the end of the 1930s. the city authorities decided to transfer ownership of the church building in the Far Eastern Railway for kindergarten. Its doors to the faithful of Christ Temple re-opened during the Second World War, acquiring the status of a cathedral. In 1945, on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the revival of the church held its first service. In 1970-ies. in the church there was a beautiful carved wooden iconostasis.

Status Cathedral was returned only in 1989, after 15 years in Khabarovsk consecration of the new cathedral - the Savior Transfiguration.

The Cathedral of the Nativity can see many different images of the Mother of God, the Savior and the other saints. To date, the Cathedral of the Nativity is in the list of the Khabarovsk Territory, of great historical and cultural value.
