In the northern district of Karvina, called Borders, you can see the unusual technical monument - the water tower built in 1928. This building in the style of constructivism for a long time been used for its intended purpose. In its rooms you can still see the technical equipment of the past, which is now considered a museum piece and adequately exposed to all sorts of exhibitions. Some machines, pumping water, are still working.
During the Second World War, it is significantly affected by the bombings, but has been restored. In 1972, the tower ceased to perform their functions and become a neglected subject that, nevertheless, attracted creative people. So, in 1985 in the premises of the water tower, an exhibition devoted to agriculture.
Water Tower, built of durable and reliable concrete bricks, reminiscent of a big round pipes supplied vertically. It consists of seven floors. On the top floor there is a header, unfortunately, for a long time the failed.
The tower is quite high (39, 4 meters), so it can be seen from afar. It dominates the entire region and its main attraction. Moreover, some residents of the Czech Republic believe that this is the main architectural monument of Karvina. It seems they have formed because the city authorities have put forward Karvina is this construction to be placed on a postage stamp. That is, in other words, independently decided that this is their main tourist site.
Now the tower is so dilapidated that needs major repairs. To get a tour of the premises of this building does not succeed, so travelers usually just photographed on his background.
