One of the most beautiful and unusual sights of Kaliningrad is a Sculpture Park, located in the city center, on the island of Kant (Kneiphof). Park open-air museum, founded in 1984, it is a branch of History and Art Museum.
In the collection of the Museum Park, there are more than thirty works of Russian sculptors, which are based on the monuments of prominent cultural figures - poets, writers, composers, and relief sculptures, united by the theme "Man and the world."
In addition, the park grow more than a thousand copies of a variety of species of plants and shrubs brought from Europe, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Japan, North and South America. Trees and shrubs were planted mainly in the 1960s on the site of the destroyed during World War II quarters of the island.
Since March 2007 Sculpture Park has the status of an object of cultural heritage (local importance). Scenic Park Open Air Museum was included in the project of transforming the island in the architectural and archaeological complex, followed by the revival of the destroyed city building of the old Königsberg. Surrounded by a park of sculptures is the main architectural feature of Kaliningrad - the Cathedral, which houses the Museum of Kant and regularly hosts concerts of organ music.
