Neighborhood Cat - a small area in the historic district of Jakarta. It is also called the Old or Old Batavia Jakarta. Cat with Indonesian language is translated as "city".

Kota District - the historic district, it serves as a reminder of the colonial times of the XVI century, when Kota was the only city located in Batavia, and was surrounded by a wall, while located around the village (kampung), orchards and rice fields. It Kota Dutch settled and built their city. Old Jakarta - or Batavia, as the Dutch call this area - in the XVI century was the center of trade throughout the continent because of its strategic location (Kota located on the shore of the Java Sea). A European sailors call the cat "Diamond of Asia" and the "Queen of the East". On the outskirts of Kota is also a commercial port of Jakarta.

The central part of the Cat - Glodok, the business center of Kota. Glodok is also called as Chinese town. This name came from the times of Dutch colonization, as the majority of traders in Glodok - Chinese. Today Glodok is known as one of the biggest electronics centers in Jakarta.

In 1972, the Governor of Jakarta issued a decree that the Cat was officially recognized as a place of historical heritage in order to preserve the ancient architectural monuments. Unfortunately, some districts of Kota, where the houses of colonial buildings, are still abandoned and gradually destroyed. In 2007, in order to preserve the ancient streets Pintu Besar and Pos Kota, which surround the area Fatahillah, the government decided to ban the travel of vehicles on them.
