The initiators of the construction of the temple were residents of villages Glazkovsky previously ranked in the parish of Trinity Church, located in the center of Irkutsk, across the river. That is why the inhabitants decided to appeal to the Irkutsk spiritual consistory with a request to give permission for the construction of their own church.

The building of the temple blessed Irkutsk Archbishop Eusebius, however, he set two conditions parishioners: The first is that the church was a stone, and the second - that the temple should be built for the project, which will adopt the Irkutsk provincial construction commission.
