Hyderabad State Museum is currently the oldest and one of the most interesting museums in the city. Getting put him in 1915. Golconda Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan, who, in order to save the cultural heritage of their homeland and created the Department of Archaeology, who was involved in the excavation, collection and storage of archaeological finds. Subsequently, it gathered a huge collection of antiquities (coins, paintings, statues, weapons). For this collection in 1930 and was created a museum. It was originally called simply Hyderabad museum, but in 1968 became a state and is now in the care of the state government. It is situated on the territory of a public park (Pablic Garden) and is a rather interesting structure, built in the Indo-Saracenic style.
The entire exposition of the museum consists of several thematic galleries: bronze, Buddhist, numismatic and galleries devoted to Brahmins, armor and weapons, manuscripts, textiles and others. Including the museum's collection are letters and photographs of Mahatma Gandhi. In addition, since 1950 the museum staff began to collect paintings by contemporary artists. The main gallery is Indian and Buddhist sculptures. So in the Indian gallery you can see a wonderful collection of coins, which is the second largest in the world after the collection of the British Museum in London.
The museum also has a library, a collection of books that will be interesting to everyone who is interested in history, archeology and museology.
All of the exhibits are unique and priceless. So there is even a collection of authentic mummy of the daughter of the sixth Pharaoh of Egypt. Mummy was presented to the museum the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad.
