The famous Nehru Zoo in Hyderabad is one of the most visited places in the city. Named in honor of the first prime minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru Zoological Park was officially presented to the public in 1963. It is located in an area of 150 hectares and is adjacent to a large lake Bicentennial Mir Alam Tank. The park is a kind of buffer zone, where for each individual animal created conditions that mimic its natural habitat. Just Nehru Zoo is home to about 250 species of animals, birds and reptiles, such as tigers, Asian lions, deer, kangaroos, antelopes, panthers, pythons, Indian (points) cobra. All animals are under constant supervision of caretakers.

At the zoo also has a "night room" where you can see in action nocturnal animals and birds such as sea urchins, Bengal cats, civets, loris, Spotted Owl, Barn Owl, fruit bats.

Apart from constantly living in the slum Zoological Park, Lake Mir Alam Tank during migration is a favorite destination for a variety of migratory birds. That in turn attracts birdwatchers from all over the world. With this in mind, the management of the zoo organized sightseeing and walking trips on the lake by boat and ferry.

Also every day (except Monday, when the offices are closed) at the zoo can take part in a safari theme, a ride on an elephant or go to the Natural History Museum. The youngest visitors have the opportunity to ride on a special train for the children's park or visit the section where are the figures of the dinosaurs.
