Hamburg zoo, which is named Hagenbeck, is a unique and exclusive place in the city. This is one of the largest zoos in the country, the beginning of its existence was put Gottfried Carl Hagenbeck, the fish merchant in Hamburg. In 1848, he was able to significantly expand the range of sold varieties of marine animals, and in 1866 the idea was continued by his son Charles, who developed the business to very large sizes.
At the beginning of the life of the project several times a year on the African continent sent expeditions to select exotic animals specifically for zoos. Thanks to the work of Karl many pets fall into princely or royal menageries. As a result of its activities in 1907 he formed the largest Hagenbeck zoo, which was open to all comers. It was a great place to relax, where you can enjoy plenty of different animals that are not in small cages, and quite spacious enclosures, where they had greater freedom of movement.
At the entrance to the Hamburg Zoo is a sculpture depicting two people of non-European type, surrounded by animals. It is worth noting that during the life of Carl Hagenbeck in this amazing place visitors can see not only wildlife, but also exotic people who enjoyed even more popularity.
Today the Zoo - about 25 hectares, where are beautiful trees, ponds and rocks. 7 kilometers of trails make it a unique place for hiking, which can go as a family, and alone, to have a great time.
Here are more than 500 different types of animals that can be provided to feed the acquisition of special food at the entrance to the zoo. Some of the animal world are trained.
