Schloss Eggenberg, located 3 km from Graz, was built in the years 1625-1635 in the style of Mannerism. It was conceived as an allegory of time and the universe. The four corner towers symbolize the four seasons, the gate 12 - 12 months, and 365 window - the number of days in a year.

The interior of the palace in the style of baroque and rococo and oversaturated with stucco, ceiling painting, paintings, crystal and antique furniture from rare wood. The walls and ceiling of the ceremonial hall painted signs of the zodiac, so it is also called the Planet Hall.

The museum is located a wing part of the Museum of Styria. The most valuable exhibit is a collection of bronze chariot Shtrettvega of VII century BC depicting scenes of sacrifice. You can also see a collection of coins and medals.
