An important place in the cultural life of the city takes Gabrovo Regional History Museum. It was created on the initiative of the Director Aprilovskoy school, the future Minister of Education, Raicho Queen in 1883. The basis for the museum gathered in the gymnasium served as a collection of antiquities.

For more than a century of the Historical Museum of its funds increased significantly, now they include exhibits of Paleolithic times of antiquity (IV-VI centuries. BC. E.) Period of the First and Second Bulgarian Empire and Turkish rule, the Renaissance, the industrial lifting and the present day.

Currently, the museum complex is located in the former building of the Bulgarian National Bank. Beautiful massive multi-storey building was built in 1904 by architect Nikolay Lazarov. For the needs of the museum building was reconstructed.

Meeting the complex has more than 90 thousand exhibits, including: found objects life of primitive people, numismatic collection (including the first Bulgarian banknote 20 lion), the second most important collection of traditional and urban clothing and accessories, a rich collection of furniture, busts of two honored industrialists Gabrovo - Ivan Kolcheva Kalpazanova and Pencho Semov, a collection of materials on industrialization and more.
