Municipal Museum "Ala Pontsone" is housed in the Palazzo Affaytati in Cremona, in particular, here is the City Art Gallery. The palace was built in the early 16th century, and today it houses a collection of elegant halls of paintings Pontsone family, which in 1842 gave the city the Marquis Giuseppe Sigismondo Ala Pontsone. In subsequent years, the collection has been enriched by works of art from closed churches of Cremona. The first hall of the gallery is devoted to the Middle Ages and the 15th century - you can see the sculptures, fragments of ancient frescoes and a collection of works of the family Bembo . Art of the 16th century is represented by works of local artists who worked in the Art Nouveau style - Bokkachchino, Pedro Fernandez, Alain Galeazzo Campi, as well as paintings in the Renaissance style that anticipated the work of the great Caravaggio . In the hall of San Domenico you can see the number of works of art from the ruined church of the same name, which reflect Milan's contribution to the local culture of the 17th century (work Chera, Nuvolone, Procaccini) . And in other showrooms harvested still lifes, including the famous "gardener" Giuseppe Arcimboldo, portraits of family members Pontsone, Genovese paintings of the 17th century, the first creations in neoclassical style (Diotti) and romanticism (Picchu) . On the second floor of the Palazzo Affaytati visitors can find a section Cremona iconography collection of paintings by Lombard artists and Cremonese 19th (Gorra, Colombo Bordeaux) and 20th centuries (Vittori, Rizzi).
