Located just above the temple on Doi Suthep mountain of the same name, Phu Ping Palace is the winter residence of the Queen of Thailand. The main buildings were built in 1961, the rest - a little later.
In the palace are special facilities for foreign dignitaries. So the first winter visitors the royal residence became the Danish King Frederick IX and his wife Queen Ingrid in 1962. Until that moment, the royal couple welcomed the distinguished guests exclusively in the capital Bangkok.
Phu Ping Palace opened to everyone, except for the time when it is resting royal family. This usually occurs from mid-December to the end of February.
On the territory of the winter residence of the royal gardeners work year-round, creating a beautiful floral arrangements from local and exotic plants. In the winter months it is grown organically pure strawberry feast which comes the Queen herself.
Palace in a traditional Thai style "Reun Mu" and is located in the National Park Doi Suthep. Cool mountain air, lots of live vegetation and gorgeous views make this place an excellent option of rest from the busy city.
Opposite the palace is the fair of needlework. In the vicinity of Chiang Mai including Doi Suthep Mountain, home to some tribes, keeping old skills, hand-made silver jewelry, textiles and more. The market at the Palace of Phu Ping - an excellent opportunity to see these people and buy a souvenir from their wonderful one works.
