Central Synagogue - the largest synagogue in Europe and the second largest in the world after the Emanuel Synagogue in New York. It was built in 1859 in the Mauritian-Byzantine style by the Austrian architect Ludwig Foerster. The building was partially destroyed during the Second World War, but then restored to its original splendor.
