Museum of Applied Arts was opened in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph in the year of the 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian October 25th, 1896 in the building of the architects Lechner and Gyula Edёna Partosha, built in the style of Art Nouveau. The museum has a bright distinguishing feature - the roof of emerald tiles Zsolnay. During World War II, the building was severely damaged (the main entrance, the main dome glass great hall), which were restored in 1949.

  The expositions of the museum contains a unique product of the Hungarian and European art from the XVI century until the present: glass products, ceramics factory "Zsolnay" items of textiles, clothing (velvet, brocade, wool, lace, leather), bronze, porcelain, musical instruments , carved wooden board for textile, jewelry, tableware, clocks, family treasures of the Esterházy family.
