Basilica of St. Stephen is named after the first king of Hungary, Stephen (Stephen). Construction of the cathedral began in 1848 under the leadership of the architect József Hilda. After his death the construction was led by Miklós Ibl. Construction was completed in 1905. Along with the parliament building, the basilica is the tallest building in the city.
