Rezzato - town in the province of Brescia in the Italian region of Lombardy. One of its main attractions related to prehistory, is the so-called Ca 'dei GRII - the cave is located on the southern slope of Mount REGON. During archaeological excavations here from 1954 till 1968, the first years in the cave were discovered Neolithic artifacts - the oldest in the entire province. Probably, in ancient times Ka'dey GRII served as a refuge for primitive people, for the same purpose it can use our contemporaries during the Second World War. Unfortunately, in 1969 the cave was partially destroyed during the development of the marble quarry.
It is believed that the modern name of the city comes from the medieval Rezzato word "regadium", which means "royal court" - the term used to describe the area around Brescia. His contribution to the development of the city made the Benedictine monks, who dried the surrounding swamps and paving irrigation channels in the plain of Valverde.
In the 14th century as a result of wars between Guelphs and Ghibellines to power in Milan and the surrounding lands came to Visconti clan, who supported Emperor Henry VII. And in the 15th century, the western part of Lombardy was captured by the Sforza family, and the province of Brescia became part of the Venetian Republic. It was in those years began to flourish commerce and various crafts, and Rezzato became known throughout Italy its marble. From the 15th to the beginning of 20th century, mining of marble and other stone was the main sector of the urban economy.
Today Rezzato can offer tourists several attractions, among which, of course, stands out PInAC - International Gallery of Children's Art Aldo Chibaldi open for more than 30 years ago. The gallery, located in Via Dischiplina, holds about 4, 5 thousand works of art. In addition to building the gallery is an educational center, which hosts a variety of thematic seminars and workshops, and perform Italian and foreign artists. The collection of the gallery is constantly updated - staff selected children's drawings, study and catalog them.
In the small villages and the Ponte Canale around Rezzato is a luxury Villa Avogadro-Fenaroli, which for four centuries was the residence of noble families from Brescia. Its northern wing and a balcony overlooking the Via Scalabrini, date back to the 16th century. Near the garden fence by Lebanese cedars perched covered loggia of the 16th century. Gothic greenhouses were built in 1840, and the garden has undergone significant changes in 1863, the year. Since 2006, the Villa Avogadro-Fenaroli located hotel «Palace Hotel».
Behind the villa you can see the Temple of Bacchus, which in 2001 was destroyed by vandals, but fortunately was quickly rebuilt as a symbol of urban history.
Since, as mentioned above, Rezzato has long been famous for its marble, it is not surprising that in 1839 Rudolph Wanting opened in the building of City Hall school for stone-cutters. Wanting himself was one of the best architects in Brescia. The school is now named after him is located in the southern part of the city.
Finally, it should be said that in Rezzato is equipped with more than 8 km of cycle paths, with the help of which the city is connected to the provincial cycling route Rezzato-Salò and Lake Garda.
