Greek Children's Museum is located in the central district of Athens, Plaka. The museum was opened in 1987 and is dedicated to the works of children from 4 to 12 years. This museum is not only for children but also for parents, teachers and anyone interested in the multifaceted development of children.
The museum is based on a private initiative of a group of young scientists under the direction of Sofia Rock Chalk, a teacher in music education. The main purpose of the museum is to give children the opportunity to experience the world through the game, and the objects around us, as much as possible using all five senses. The museum hosts a variety of themed sessions, exhibitions, and educational workshops. Topics are designed taking into account the interests and needs of children, using available tools, audio and video materials. This theater and cooking classes, and puzzle games, and the lessons of the fine arts, and many other useful and interesting topics. Sport gives children an opportunity to explore, to experiment, to think, to create and develop their potential. Particular attention is paid to the organization of cultural and educational programs for children with disabilities.
The museum demonstrates the many works created by the children, and the exposure is constantly updated. Here you can see a collection of African children toys, which was donated to the museum organization "Save the world." An interesting exhibit is the first collection of children's drawings on paper from a small Pakistani village of Kalash.
