Theodore Church of Mother of God was opened in 1999 on the initiative of the Orthodox inhabitants of the neighborhood ATSKK. In April of the same year, the parish held its first meeting at which the faithful made the request to dedicate the newly established Orthodox parish in honor of Theodore Icon of the Mother of God. In 1999 when the local administration had established a fund for the construction of the temple.

Since 2005, thanks to the support of the city administration and the Mayor SA Bozhenova began to lead an active construction. In May 2007, His Eminence Jonah, Archbishop of Astrakhan and Enotaevsky when clergy concelebrated the cathedral made a solemn laying of the new church.
