Château Deganne in Arcachon - a palace in the style of a new Renaissance, where from the beginning of the XX century is a casino La Beach.

The building was erected in 1853 by the mayor of Adalberom Degas. The palace was built on the edge of the beach. This building as a place of rest and social meetings, enjoyed great popularity among the guests in Arcachon bourgeoisie and nobility - not only French, but also from other European countries. Therefore, the palace and was seen as a symbol of Arcachon, and as a symbol of wealth and luxury. In 1857, Napoleon III awarded the status of the commune of Arcachon, mayor of Degania wanted to thank him, and decided to give the palace overlooking the ocean, but such a gift from the Emperor refused, saying that it is "costly." At the end of the XIX century, the palace also became a venue for magnificent receptions and exhibitions.

After the death of Degania palace became the private property, and it even while housed finishing school. In 1903 it sold a wealthy businessman, and the new owner has opened it gambling establishment. During World War II, instead of the players settled in the palace of the soldiers, and the building was heavily damaged. After the war, the palace was restored and again began to spin the wheel in it, as well as to give theatrical performances.

By the way, in XIX-XX centuries in Arcachon worked two casinos - La Plage and Moorish located in the Moorish park and built in a "winter city" in the second half of the XIX century. Moorish casino (also called the forest) burned down in 1977, now its place is divided Arboretum. With the appearance of the forest casinos can be found by looking at the layout of a Moorish park.
