Palace "Under the Globe" - the palace, located on the area of the White Eagle in Szczecin. Currently the building is the headquarters of the Academy of Arts.
The original baroque palace Grumbkova was built in 1724-1725 years by the architect Peter de Montarga. Also in the construction work involved the famous master Philip Gerlach. Sculptural decoration engaged artist Johann Georg Glumm.
Superb residence was built for the President of the Supreme Pomerania Philip Otto von Grumbkova. In 1759 the palace had a daughter - Princess Sophia Dorothea Virtembergskaya (later - Empress Maria Feodorovna, wife of Tsar Paul I. Maria Feodorovna was the mother of two Russian emperors - Alexander I and Nicholas I.)
In 1782 the palace bought trader Frederick Vitzlov. The palace was destroyed during the Napoleonic wars. In 1890 the building was bought by the insurance company "National". To carry out restoration work was invited architect from Berlin, Franz Vihard. Palace in neo-baroque style with stone facade and partial lining is richly decorated with pilasters and bas-reliefs. On the front of the building is decorated with a globe, because of which the palace got its name. Globe crowning Palace, it became a symbol of open-mindedness of "National".
During the Second World War the palace was not destroyed. After 1945, he served as a training center, and since 1961, the building is home to the School of Medicine. Currently, the palace belongs to the Academy of Fine Arts in Szczecin.
