The market building was built in 1916 by architect V.A.Lyukshinym. The area of ​​the market, together with the building and trade rows, takes up almost an entire city block and is at the crossroads of Chapaev, Sacco and Vanzetti, Kirov Avenue and peaceful side street in the center of Saratov.

Place of built covered market until 1914 was called Mitrophanievskoye area with Ascension-Sennovskaya church, consecrated in the name of the Holy Mitrofanii (hence the name of the square) and erected in 1838. In the early twentieth century in Saratov's largest bazaar Mitrophanievskoye considered. Rows of shops located throughout the area and brought in a lot of profits city treasury.
