National Park Rusenski Lom is spread near Rousse - just 20 kilometers from the Bulgarian city of the south. The name of the park has received from the same river, which is the last right tributary of the Danube. In 1970, Rusenski Lom, an area of about 3,300 hectares was registered as a protected zone.
Park Rusenski Lom is diverse landscape, flora and fauna, in addition, there are unique historical monuments. All this makes the park very interesting place to visit, there are created conditions for hiking, ecological, educational tourism.
The natural park is growing about nine hundred species of plants, fauna is also extremely diverse: It is home to amphibians (10 species, 5 of them are protected by the law), reptiles (19 species), mammals (66 species), as well as fish, snails, crabs and river mussels. The class of birds represented here by the most generous - 190 species, 110 of them nesting.
On the park laid several different eco-trails: a specially designed separate routes of different lengths, allowing to explore the features of the landscape, to assess the biological diversity of the park, visit the archaeological sites. Visitors to the park will be able to see a unique century-old elm tree, the river Rusenski Lom and its tributaries Cherni Lom, Beli Lom, Malki Lom, ancient Christian cemetery of the 17th century, rock nests of rare birds, hunt bats and much more.
The park is located in Ivanovo Rusenski Lom Church - a unique rock complex, which is under the protection of UNESCO and is part of the World Cultural Heritage. Also, here is another site - the ruins of the fortress of Cherven: watchtower, foundation of the church, the boyars' houses, the gates, the remains of the fortress wall, and unique facilities for water supply.
The park is equipped with a set of points for the rest, there are special pockets for a fire, all the routes are marked.
