Museum of geology was founded on May 18 in 1961 as a separate entity in the structure of the Institute of Geology. It is located in the city of Petrozavodsk in the street Pushkinskaya. Initially, the head of the museum was Yudin Viktor. Currently head of the museum - Rufus A. Hazov.
