Cathedral Trinity - one of the main temples of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the only cathedral city. It is located on a hill not far from the main highway of the city.

The decision to build the temple was made in August 1999 at the meeting of the diocesan clergy of the diocese of Kamchatka. The project has developed a cathedral architect Oleg Lukomsky, which in addition to the construction of the temple with two or three chapels also provided for the reconstruction of the church of St. Nicholas, the erection of diocesan administration, chapels and other premises that constitute a single complex - Petropavlovsk Kremlin.

In the first half of 2000 it was created by the board of trustees for the erection of the temple. Honorary head of the board was elected Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II. In September 2001, at the construction site of the Cathedral of the Trinity, Bishop Ignatius Peter and Paul celebrated the first Divine Liturgy. At the same time it was begun construction. In June 2002, the feast of the Holy Trinity, a ceremonial inception of the first brick in the foundation of the cathedral, a steel capsule with the relics of Saints Vilna Martyrs John Anthony, St. Eustatius and embedded credentials.

The first 6 years of the construction of the cathedral was carried out with funds donated by parishioners. In the future financing of the project took the company "Gazprom". Major work on the construction of the church finished in September 2010, after which work began on the cathedral painting and landscaping the surrounding area.
